Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.
A retreat is an intentional time away from our normal activities to spend time getting reacquainted with God, to experience a new awareness of the presence of God.
Retreats call us to examine the priorities of life and to make concrete and practical resolutions for improvement. They offer an opportunity to get some distance and see things in perspective.
We read in the Gospels that Jesus often withdrew to a deserted place by himself despite the many demands placed upon him — or perhaps because of them! If Jesus needed to withdraw from time to time, chances are good that you and I need to do so, too!
Richmond Hill offers overnight retreats for persons who desire rest and time to seek God. Retreats may be taken in 24-hr increments between Tues. 4 p.m.– Sat. 4 p.m. In addition, more formal contemplative retreats are offered periodically on weekends for individuals who wish to be a part of a facilitated retreat rhythm. Spiritual guidance is available for any individual on retreat. The recommended donation is $80 per 24 hrs., which covers lodging and meals ($100 if Spiritual Guidance is included).
For more information or to schedule your retreat, contact Mary Lewis (804-783-7903 or email@example.com).
Individuals are welcome to visit Richmond Hill Tuesday through Saturday during normal operating hours to experience this oasis on the hill and take advantage of the chapel, library, gardens, and grounds, including our Labyrinth. On Thursdays, a community lunch is served that you are welcome to join in - no reservation required. We ask a $5-10 donation for the meal.
For those desiring more structure to their retreat time, Richmond Hill offers several day retreats each month that can be a one time experience or you may find they become a regular habit! There are also monthly day retreats offered as part of our Grief Support program as well as an Art & Spirituality series.
