Grief Support
Grief hurts…
Richmond Hill is committed to the spiritual healing and transformation of metropolitan Richmond. Change of this magnitude happens at a personal level, and often individual growth comes with pain experienced from loss. Richmond Hill, partnered with Dr. Sandra Gramling, offers an array of programs to help one cope with grief.
Grief is a natural consequence that follows loss. There are many ways we suffer loss: loss of job, divorce, loss of a life-long dream, the death of someone close. Losses like these can leave us awash in painful emotions, confusing and conflicting thoughts, and facing difficult new tasks of daily living. Bereavement often leaves our sense of self and purpose strained and sometimes shattered.
Our grief support groups offer a safe haven to share experiences and learn from others’ experiences in a supportive and confidential setting.
“Creating Pathways Through Grief” Day Retreat
The expressive arts have long been helpful in processing our grief. It is often restorative to bypass the intellect and work with our hands and heart. We can express our grief and find new insights about our journey. People are often amazed by what unfolds from their creative efforts. The retreat also includes an opportunity to share what has been created with other retreatants. Other expressive art opportunities will also be available including a dream work exercise, a choice of various writing exercises, and an art project for “stuck points” in the grief journey exercise.
Retreats are generally held once a quarter. Check out our upcoming events page or contact Richmond Hill (804-783-7903) to learn about upcoming opportunities.
