First Friday Day Retreat – Jan. 6, 2023
Water Pipes Burst at Richmond Hill Christmas Day
On Christmas Day, Richmond Hill sustained two pipe bursts which have impacted much of our building. While we clean-up and recover, our retreat capacity will be restricted. Unfortunately, this offering has been cancelled. We apologize for this incredible inconvenience.
Are you longing for some sabbath time, a day for quiet reflection and spiritual renewal? If so, you’re invited to Richmond Hill’s “First Friday” retreat, held the first Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our next retreat will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023.
Come enjoy time in solitude or quiet fellowship with other companions in a place of beauty and peace: walk the labyrinth, rest in the garden, climb up to the cupola and look out over the city. You are welcome to attend noon prayers in the chapel, and a delicious lunch afterwards in the refectory. We will begin with a short time of centering prayer in the novitiate, then you will be free to wander and spend your day as you like. Bring what you need to follow your own spiritual practice, or engage in a more structured creative practice “starter” provided by the facilitator.
For those who wish, we will gather again toward the end of the day at an agreed-upon time to share insights, joys, and experiences of the day, followed by another short time of centering prayer.
Reservations are strongly encouraged, due to limited space and to aid in planning lunch. Please use the form below to register. The suggested donation is $40, which can be paid online or at the door when you arrive. For more information, please contact Rev. Sheryl Johnson at sjohnson@richmondhillva.org.
