Leadership Transition at Richmond Hill
We write to share the news that our Co-Pastoral Director, Rev. Dr. Lisa Johnson, will be transitioning away from Richmond Hill on March 15, 2024. We are saddened to lose her as a beloved leader at Richmond Hill and feel joy that she will be serving as the Encore Pastor at St. Paul’s Baptist Church.
Lisa has a deep love for Richmond Hill and the city of Richmond. She carried our community through tumultuous seasons: shepherding the Richmond Hill community through the pandemic, a capital campaign, and restoration efforts after the December 2022 flooding. She has served as a faculty member to both RUAH and Koinonia, led several Lenten retreats, and coordinated Clergy Convocations. Her creativity and innovation created Clergy, Coffee, and Conversation, and the inaugural Founders Week. Her gifts for teaching and preaching are a wonder to behold. Her bold Christ-centered leadership and commitment to racial justice have been a clarion call for our own community and the broader Metropolitan community.
We will celebrate Lisa with a public reception prior to her departure in March. Her final sermon will be on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at our community worship at 5:30pm.
Please reach out to either of us if you wish to discuss this news, our strategic plan, or anything related to Richmond Hill. We remain the only urban, historic retreat center in the city of Richmond – committed to prayer, hospitality, racial healing, and spiritual development. Thank you for upholding our community in prayer as we navigate this season of transition, led by the Holy Spirit. We trust in God’s faithfulness to each of us, to you, and to Richmond Hill. We are confident that with your continued support and creative engagement, we will continue to build a beloved community in service to Metropolitan Richmond.
