Anniversary Walk on the Historic Richmond Slave Trail
To celebrate Emancipation please join Hope in the Cities and the Richmond Slave Trail Commission in marking the 20th anniversary of the Unity Walk that in 1993 took Richmonders to sites of previously unacknowledged history as part of the Healing the Heart of America conference. You are invited to walk through history on the historic slave trail.
The meeting point for the walk is Lumpkin’s Slave Jail where walkers will be bused to the Manchester Slave Dock. The walk will end back at Lumpkin’s Slave Jail. If parked at Ancarrows Landing/Manchester Slave Dock please have your own method for returning to your car at the end of the walk.
Richmond Hill co-sponsored the original Healing the Heart of America walk in 1993, which was the beginning of Richmond Hill’s whole history involvement, and of the Slave Trail, in Richmond.
