Zoom Lens: A Closer Look at Race & Racism in America
Friday, January 15, 7-9:00 pm & Saturday, January 16, 9:00 am-noon, 1-4:00 pm
A 2-day on-line workshop to examine American norms on race. Common beliefs about race and racism will be analyzed and participants will be given the opportunity to reflect on their own experience and perspective. Interrupting racism and delving into the historical and institutional issues of bigotry and bias that have shaped society takes courage. The hope is that participants will be motivated to adopt the practice of challenging unexamined assumptions and acting courageously with an equity lens. The goal is to inspire a journey of lifelong transformation for participants.
Sponsored by our Koinonia School of Race and Justice and led by Suzanne Haley and Jacky McCoy. Suzanne and Jacky are former Koinonia students and the co-founders of Changing the Lens, a community-building movement to inspire courageous citizenship. Its goal is to change the view of race and racism in America by examining truth and awakening empathy.
The cost is $125 (some financial assistance available). After signing-up below, you will receive a link for payment. After your payment, we will send your Zoom link and a confirmation of your spot in the workshop.
