1st Friday Day Retreat
Friday, December 3, 2021 — 9 am to 4 pm
The first Friday of each month is a time to invite clergy and other church professionals to join us at Richmond Hill for a day of meditation and reflection. The doors open at 9:00 and we will have greetings and devotion at 9:30.
Participants can determine how they want to spend their time with us. The Garden is open and includes a labyrinth. The library is available with numerous commentaries and other research resources. We will have community prayer at noon and lunch available afterward. The afternoon is open and we’ll have a closing meditation at 3:30 but participants are welcome to stay on the Hill until 4:00 in the afternoon. The cost is $20.00 which includes the lunch.
Mark Cooper, Interim Co-pastor, has written a book called Mapping Your Adventure: Discovering Integrity in a Life Review. The book grew out of his work as a clinical supervisor and pastoral counselor. It is a review of developmental stages of personality as outlined by Eric Erickson that provides a way of reviewing one’s life. Pastor Cooper will be available after the opening devotions to present his work and invite discussion of the various stages with a concluding focus on Integrity vs. Despair, the final life stage. We will adjourn to one of our group rooms for an open discussion of the issues suggested by developmental theory. Open to anyone who is interested.
Logan Jones will provide the closing devotions and will be available during the day for consultation.
This First Friday falls during the beginning of Advent and our celebration of Founder’s Week. See the website for a full outline of all the activities that are planned and join us when you can.
Suggested donation: $20 (includes lunch)
