SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE

"Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near." -- Isaiah 55:6

Spiritual guidance, as understood at Richmond Hill, is the process of listening prayerfully with another person to the leading of the Holy Spirit of God. Throughout the centuries persons have found it helpful on their journey to have a companion on the road. There are no experts here, only fellow pilgrims. Each spiritual director has his or her own director. This is not psychotherapy. It is an opportunity to share with another person your search for the true guidance of God's spirit in your life. Spiritual direction normally occurs once a month.

THE SPIRIT OF SEEKING

Spiritual guidance is best entered into in a spirit of seeking. We believe that the Holy Spirit within us is seeking the truth for us, and that Jesus respects the search of every human being. We invite persons who are listening for God to share their search here.

FINDING A SPIRITUAL GUIDE

 Richmond Hill maintains contact with a network of spiritual directors, who provide peer accountability with each other. Our RUAH School of Spiritual Guidance provides a two-year training program for spiritual directors. We also maintain contact with persons whose gift was fostered or encouraged in other schools and situations. If you would like to explore spiritual guidance or to find a spiritual director, contact the Associate Pastor or any member of the community at Richmond Hill and ask for an interview or a referral. We will be glad to see if we can be of help to you. Richmond Hill does not charge a fee for spiritual guidance. We ask for a contribution of $30 from those who can afford to give. Any gift is welcome and none is required.
